Students in my HTOM 511 class had the opportunity to take the Special Event Management theories and best practices they learn in class and apply their knowledge and build their skills through planning and executing one of four Class Events. In groups of between 9 and 11 people, each Class Event executed the planning elements they learned in class this semester and hosted an event to raise money for Girls on the Run GTA. The events included a Charity Bingo tournament, a 80's theme night at a local pub, a Silent Auction, and a Running Shoe Charity Drive.
In a mere 15 weeks these Hospitality & Tourism students were taught the fundamentals of event coordiantion, and took their skills to the real world very successfully!
